> Democratic-leaning respondents showed the strongest negative split, while Republicans were more evenly divided. The findings were disclosed Nov. 3, the day voting ended in the U.S. midterm elections.

Nearly 63% of registered U.S. voters who answered a cryptocurrency question in an April 2026 survey viewed the industry unfavorably, with Democratic-leaning respondents showing the strongest negative split.

The survey included 1,000 registered voters. Of the 849 who answered the crypto question, 533 viewed the industry unfavorably and 316 favorably. The question asked respondents to explain their views.

Among Democratic-leaning respondents, negative views were more common than positive ones. Republican-leaning voters were more evenly divided. Independents also leaned negative.

Respondents with favorable views often pointed to investment gains. Some described crypto as a way to protect assets if the dollar weakened, a useful investment or a practical tool against inflation outside the United States. Others praised it as transparent or secure.

Critics cited investment risk, limited regulation, fraud concerns and difficulty using crypto to pay for goods. Some said they did not know enough about crypto to view it favorably; others worried about losing access to assets if they forgot a password. Several also raised concerns about government tracking or seizure of crypto, while some cited Trump and his family’s crypto businesses.

Younger voters were generally more favorable than older respondents, though the 18-to-24 age group leaned negative: 20 respondents in that group viewed crypto favorably and 24 unfavorably. Respondents ages 55 and older were more clearly negative. The findings were disclosed Tuesday, Nov. 3, the day voting ended in the U.S. midterm elections.
