> Nvidia separately disclosed limited U.S.-licensed shipments, Chinese sales restrictions and a $0.4 billion H200-related charge in fiscal 2027's first half.

About 600,000 Nvidia H200 artificial intelligence chips were waiting in Hong Kong for shipment to mainland China, amid separate U.S. export and Chinese import hurdles.

Chinese approval for large-volume H200 imports remained pending. Some H200 chips entered mainland China in recent months through intermediaries and indirect routes. Several major Chinese internet firms each obtained about 10,000 H200 chips in recent months.

During the fiscal second quarter ended July 26, 2026, U.S. licenses covered H200 shipments to specific customers in China. Chinese government restrictions limited those sales, and Nvidia shipped only a fraction of the allowed units. Those shipments represented less than 1% of Data Center revenue for the quarter.

Nvidia also recorded a $0.4 billion charge in the first half of fiscal 2027 for excess H200 inventory and purchase obligations as demand diminished.

U.S. export permission and Chinese import approval are separate steps. On Jan. 13, 2026, the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) said it would review license applications for H200 and similar chips individually under security requirements.

Under Secretary for Industry and Security Jeffrey Kessler said, “Permitting the sale of the H200 to China under controlled conditions will strengthen the American technology ecosystem.”
