The Internal Revenue Service set 2027 income cutoffs for the 0% long-term capital gains rate, giving single filers and married couples filing jointly higher taxable-income limits for qualifying investment gains.

The cutoff is $51,050 for single filers and $102,100 for married couples filing jointly. The long-term capital gains schedule has rates of 0%, 15% and 20%, based on taxable income. The 0% rate covers gains on investments held for more than a year.

Taxable income is adjusted gross income minus the larger of the standard deduction or itemized deductions. For 2027, the standard deduction will be $16,600 for single filers and $33,200 for married couples filing jointly. The thresholds are part of the [2027 federal tax-bracket and standard-deduction changes](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/regulation/50698>).

The new limits may affect investors’ plans to sell or rebalance investments in brokerage accounts, since those transactions can trigger taxes.
