As a part of this initiative, Baidu is offering its blockchain technology, XuperChain, to a number of industries. The company claimed that XuperChain currently processes more than 55,000 transactions per second – which is much higher than the industry average. “XuperChain helps multiple parties execute transactions without the need for a trusted, central authority, addressing challenges commonly faced in information security, copyright verification, supply chain financing, online trading and other areas,” it said. Baidu established a blockchain subsidiary, called Dulian Internet Technology, in Hainan province in August 2018, [Technode]() reported. In another project, Baidu is working with the Beijing Internet Court to develop an electronic-evidence platform using XuperChain. More than 93 million patents have been stored and protected on XuperChain's copyright protection system, as of December 2018, the release said. Baidu released its [white paper for XuperChain network]() in September 2018.
