Elliptic launched Decode, an artificial intelligence agent that answers on-chain risk questions in seconds and shows the query, its interpretation and the evidence supporting each answer.

The tool, announced Sept. 17, is available to government customers. Private-sector availability is planned for later in 2026.

Users can ask questions in ordinary language about cryptoasset addresses, entities and transactions instead of manually building a wallet-tracing investigation. Decode can identify high-risk wallets, likely off-ramps and cross-chain exposure, with results available for deeper investigations.

The system does not close cases or determine the direction of an investigation. Human analysts decide whether to pursue its suggestions.

“The market is full of AI that asks to be trusted. That is not good enough when someone asks how you reached a decision,” Jackson Hull, Elliptic’s chief technology officer, said.

“If you cannot check an answer, you cannot defend the decision you made on it,” Hull said.

Elliptic provides blockchain intelligence and crypto compliance tools to financial institutions, digital-asset companies and government agencies. Its intelligence platform is built on billions of labeled addresses and covers more than 68 blockchains. Its law-enforcement products screen and monitor wallets across more than 65 blockchains and more than 250 bridges.

Elliptic also published the eight-principle Elliptic Standard, a framework for agentic on-chain risk, on Sept. 10. The framework emphasizes data quality, model transparency, artificial intelligence safety and human oversight.

“Human oversight has to be built into these systems from the start, not added when something goes wrong,” said Joanna Marathakis, vice president of financial crimes compliance at Circle.

Elliptic was founded in 2013. Its systems screen more than 1 billion transactions a week for more than 700 customers in 30 countries.

The company closed a $120 million Series D investment led by One Peak, with participation from Nasdaq Ventures, Deutsche Bank and the British Business Bank. The round valued the company at $670 million.
