Anza engineers have moved Solana’s developer network onto the Alpenglow consensus protocol, advancing an upgrade that targets much faster transaction finality.

Alpenglow aims to reduce the time required to finalize transactions from about 12.8 seconds to between 100 and 150 milliseconds. The upgrade also changes how Solana processes blocks.

The migration places Alpenglow on Solana’s developer network as the network progresses toward its next major upgrade.
