# Zano Restarts Blockchain After Gateway Address Vulnerability

Zano restarted its blockchain at block height 3,833,000 after a Gateway Address vulnerability enabled unauthorized ZANO and fUSD issuance, removing about a month of on-chain history from the recovered chain.

The restart begins immediately before Hard Fork 6 and is designed to eliminate the unauthorized activity through a coordinated network upgrade. Transactions confirmed during the affected period are not included in the recovered chain.

The vulnerability affected asset issuance through Gateway Addresses, but did not compromise wallet spend keys or the privacy of ordinary transactions. Zano’s core consensus mechanism also remained unaffected.

Nodes, miners, stakers and related services must install the update to support the recovered network. The team is working with affected projects on losses and plans to publish reimbursement and claims procedures.

Zano will later disclose the technical cause of the vulnerability and the results of a review of related code.
