> The reported concept would convert part of Alpha emissions into transferable credits for compute, inference and other services across Bittensor’s subnet ecosystem.

A conceptual Gamma token proposal was reportedly presented at the Exploit Summit on Sept. 28, 2026, potentially giving Bittensor subnets a transferable credit system for buying compute, inference and other network services.

The concept would convert part of Alpha emissions into Gamma credits that subnets could use for service payments across the Bittensor ecosystem. It could direct some emissions toward network services rather than immediate market sales.

Bittensor uses specialized subnets, each with its own Alpha token and a TAO–Alpha liquidity pool. Alpha prices are linked to the TAO reserves in those pools. Alpha emissions are divided among network participants, with 41% allocated to miners, 41% to validators and 18% to subnet owners.

An early concept reportedly involved burning subnet-specific Alpha tokens to obtain Gamma credits. The supply model, issuance rules, redemption process and relationship between Alpha and Gamma have not been established.

Gamma remains a conceptual proposal, with no confirmed protocol upgrade identified. No formal specification, governance proposal, code change or launch schedule has been identified for the system.
