Anthropic has disclosed an agreement to spend as much as $84.5 billion on SpaceX computing capacity through 2029, highlighting the scale of infrastructure commitments supporting the artificial intelligence industry.

The agreement covers AI computing resources built around Nvidia chips. Anthropic is scheduled to pay SpaceX up to the full amount over the contract period, although most of the terms allow either side to terminate the arrangement with 90 days’ notice.

The disclosed figure is substantially larger than the previously outlined structure, under which Anthropic agreed to pay $1.25 billion per month for SpaceX computing capacity over a term of up to about three years. That arrangement represented nearly $45 billion in potential payments and included the same 90-day cancellation provision.

Anthropic announced the SpaceX computing partnership in May as part of an effort to expand capacity for its Claude artificial intelligence products.
