Zano has restarted its blockchain at block 3,833,000 after a Gateway Addresses vulnerability enabled unauthorized issuance of Zano (ZANO) and Freedom Dollar (fUSD), removing roughly one month of transaction history from the recovered chain. Emergency release 2.2.3.600, published Sept. 27, activated Hard Fork 7 at the restart point and temporarily disabled Gateway Addresses. The block was dated to Aug. 26 at 11:50 a.m. ET (15:50 UTC), immediately before Hard Fork 6 and the affected feature’s activation. Transactions recorded after block 3,833,000 are excluded from the adopted chain, including legitimate activity during the affected period. The rollback does not reverse payments already settled on USDT, DAI or other separate networks. Zano said the vulnerability affected asset issuance but did not compromise ordinary transaction privacy, wallet security or spend keys. Gateway Addresses were introduced with Hard Fork 6 to simplify integrations for bridges, exchanges and payment services. The recovered network continued producing blocks after the restart. Its explorer recorded block 3,837,550 with two transactions at 1:43:39 p.m. ET (17:43:39 UTC) on Sept. 29. Nodes, miners, stakers, wallets, exchanges and payment services must install the updated software before resuming transfers. The team said affected users and businesses will be included in a recovery process. Zano has not published the promised technical post-mortem, disclosed the quantity or value of unauthorized ZANO and fUSD created, or released detailed reimbursement and claims procedures.
