> About 2,700 Zcash tokens entered Ironwood, roughly one-seventh of the ZEC stolen from Bitget’s hot wallet.

Suspected attackers behind Bitget’s ZEC theft moved about 2,700 Zcash (ZEC) tokens worth roughly $3.8 million into Zcash’s Ironwood privacy pool, making the funds harder to trace.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT said the transfer occurred after approximately 18,900 ZEC, valued at about $28.3 million, was taken from a Bitget hot wallet on Sept. 24. The 2,700 ZEC sent to Ironwood amounts to roughly one-seventh of the stolen tokens.

Ironwood encrypts the sender, recipient and transaction amount inside the pool. Observers can still identify funds entering or leaving the pool, but the movement between those points is obscured.

The transfer followed efforts to block the stolen assets from being exchanged. NEAR Intents said its screening system rejected more than $50 million in related conversion requests, while about $503,000 was frozen during attempted swaps and approximately $166,000 was successfully converted.

Bitget said its protection fund will cover the financial impact of the incident and that customer funds are unaffected. Ironwood launched July 28 as a replacement for Zcash’s Orchard privacy pool.
