> The test used 2-gigabyte blobs, while the planned initial mainnet cap is 128 megabytes.

Across 120 validators, Celestia’s Fibre data-availability system posted a 3.07 terabits-per-second average during a 143-second test, based on blob data validated by signatures and onchain commitments.

The result reflects an experimental performance test, not live mainnet throughput. It used 2-gigabyte blobs, while the initial mainnet release is expected to cap blob size at 128 megabytes.

Fibre’s best 60-second interval averaged 3.69 Tb/s, while its best 30-second interval averaged 4.27 Tb/s. Those figures exclude recovery pieces generated during encoding and traffic used to distribute pieces to validators.

Clients can send blob data to servers operated by validators through Fibre, with publication recorded onchain. The system is intended for applications such as rollups that need data available for verification.

Each validator ran on a separate AWS machine, with blob generation and encoding on the same machines. The benchmark used one-second blocks and raised Fibre submissions per block from 200 to 2,000 for the test. Uploads waited an average of 2.2 seconds for confirmation.

A comparison associated with the result puts Fibre’s data volume at nearly 2 billion transactions per second. That is an estimate based on the amount of data moved, not a count of transactions processed. The benchmark does not establish how much throughput can be delivered reliably and economically under mainnet conditions.
