> The project urged operators on version 26.06.7 or earlier to upgrade to 26.06.8, which fixes several security flaws.

Core Lightning warned Oct. 2 that attackers are targeting Bitcoin (BTC) Lightning nodes running version 26.06.7 or earlier, and urged operators to install an update that addresses several security vulnerabilities.

The project’s version 26.06.8 release became available Sept. 22. Its fixes include a flaw involving channel closures that could put funds at risk. Some tests were withheld from the release materials to make it harder to analyze the vulnerabilities.

The warning did not identify which flaws attackers are exploiting or confirm that any attack succeeded. No stolen-funds total was disclosed.

Core Lightning is software used to run a node on the Lightning Network, a payment network built on Bitcoin. The alert concerns Core Lightning software, not a vulnerability in Bitcoin itself.
