> The release raises Sepolia’s default from 60 million gas at the Gloas fork, while Ethereum mainnet remains unaffected.

Prysm v7.2.1 added a 200 million gas schedule for Sepolia before Ethereum’s Glamsterdam test activated Oct. 6, giving validators a higher default for testing larger blocks.

The Sepolia fork activated at 9:53:36 a.m. ET (13:53:36 UTC) at epoch 353,024 and slot 11,296,768, when the schedule began applying. Prysm v7.2.1 was released Oct. 5.

Prysm v7.2.0 supported the Sepolia fork but left validators with a 60 million gas default because the 200 million schedule was added after that release. Operators who stayed on v7.2.0 could still set the higher limit through version 2 proposer settings or the keymanager API.

A block’s gas limit sets the maximum computational work it can contain. The higher Sepolia setting is designed to let developers examine how validators, execution clients and block-building infrastructure handle substantially larger blocks; post-activation performance is not established here.

The Sepolia test does not schedule a 200 million gas upgrade for Ethereum mainnet. The parameter applies to the test network, while mainnet adoption, timing and any final gas limit remain undecided.

Glamsterdam pairs Amsterdam’s execution-layer changes with the consensus-layer work known as Gloas. Planned changes include enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and revised gas accounting intended to improve Layer 1 capacity.

The activation advances [earlier 200 million-gas Sepolia testing plans](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/26143>). Ethereum’s next public testnet step is Hoodi, but its activation time and the mainnet launch date have not been set.
