> The Oct. 7 transfer error affected some inbound payments from other financial institutions. Toss Bank said it corrected the issue after confirming it.

Toss Bank credited some failed inbound transfers during a 30-minute transfer error Oct. 7, allowing a 5,000 won Naver Pay transfer to appear in one account four times while the original balance remained available.

The error occurred at Toss Bank from 1:20-1:50 a.m. ET (0520-0550 UTC). Transfers from other financial institutions that were marked failed still appeared as deposits in some Toss Bank accounts.

In the test, a 5,000 won transfer was attempted four times. Each attempt failed on Naver Pay, but Toss Bank credited the account with a total of 20,000 won.

Toss Bank said the issue occurred during an internal system update and was not caused by an external intrusion or AI hackers. The bank said transfers were operating normally after it corrected the issue immediately after confirming it.

Toss Bank said erroneous entries would be corrected under applicable laws and terms, and affected customers would be notified individually. The corrected transactions would be visible in transaction records.

The bank said it was conducting a detailed review and would inspect and improve its systems to prevent a recurrence.
