> The proposed deal would let the party linked to the stolen funds keep an agreed share and avoid criminal action after returning the remaining funds covered by the agreement.

Duelbits has proposed an on-chain settlement with the party linked to funds stolen in a recent hot-wallet breach, offering a bounty in exchange for returning the remaining funds covered by the agreement.

A blockchain message attributed to Duelbits says the betting platform traced the stolen funds and identified suspected participants, along with wallets, exchanges and accounts connected to them. The proposal would allow the party to keep an agreed share while sending the balance back.

The proposed arrangement is conditional on a formal agreement and full repayment of the amount covered by the deal. Once those terms are completed, Duelbits would not pursue criminal charges or additional legal action, the message says.

Duelbits suffered an estimated $7 million loss on Sept. 24 after a private-key leak compromised its hot wallet. The latest message sets out a recovery path but does not establish that the funds have been returned or that an agreement has been signed.
