> The chatbot lets users test discounts, payment terms and break-even points, while AWS finance teams use AI agents to review contracts and set customer targets.

Amazon Web Services converted an 18-tab Excel model used to evaluate customer deals into a chatbot, giving users a faster way to test pricing scenarios and deal terms.

The chatbot can model a 20% price reduction, changes to payment terms and break-even points through natural-language questions. Users can still export the model to Excel.

AWS CFO John Felton presented the tool as an example of artificial intelligence changing how work is performed, rather than simply accelerating existing tasks. “Use AI every day,” Felton said.

A separate AWS finance team built an AI agent to compare payment terms in customer contracts with AWS’ payment system. The earlier process reviewed a sample of contracts, while the agent checks all of them.

“Let’s not just do a sample size, let’s do all of it,” Felton said.

AWS employees also use Amazon Quick, the company’s AI work assistant, to search internal materials, including documents prepared for board meetings.

An Amazon Quick agent reduced strategic-customer target-setting work from as much as six hours per customer to about 10 minutes. The system also expanded coverage from roughly one-third of strategic customers to the entire portfolio.

The examples come as AWS continues to grow its cloud business. AWS net sales were $42.2 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up 37% year over year. AWS had an annualized revenue run rate of $169 billion as of June 30, 2026.

Felton said customer adoption of AI remains early. “I think in general, I would say it feels early across the board,” he said.
