> The Tachyon co-founder said experts should remain calm and help users navigate uncertainty while the industry assesses future cryptographic threats.

Tachyon co-founder Sean Bowe said recent warnings about quantum and artificial intelligence threats to blockchain cryptography could weaken trust in legitimate security concerns if predictions continue without sufficient constraints.

Bowe said the underlying risks are real, but experts should remain calm and take responsibility while helping users navigate uncertainty. Some teams have strong cryptographic expertise, he said, while others must rely on trusted specialists because the technical trade-offs are difficult to explain to nonexperts.

Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake has urged the crypto industry to begin planning for “bunker mode” after warning that a worst-case break of the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm, or ECDSA, could occur within months rather than years. Current cryptography has not been broken, and the threat remains a future risk.

The industry’s response to Drake’s warning is outlined in [earlier coverage of ECDSA preparations](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/27651>).

Bowe said the direction of Drake’s warning was initially reasonable and had been useful. He argued, however, that it had developed into predictions without adequate feedback or constraints, potentially causing substantial damage to public trust if people later viewed it as an unintended publicity effort.

Bowe said Drake had acknowledged that the latest warning was not driven by new information. He called on Drake to explain why he believed that approach was appropriate.

The immediate issue remains how blockchain developers and users should assess future cryptographic risks while no current break of the relevant systems has been established.
