> The feature lets new tokens pair with any eligible token launched on Pump.fun, while limiting pair depth to one hop.

Pump.fun expanded its Custom Pairs feature on Oct. 9, allowing new tokens to pair with eligible tokens already launched on the platform and directing trading activity into those tokens’ liquidity pools.

The feature supports pairings with tokens that remain on Pump.fun’s bonding curve or have graduated to PumpSwap. When a trader buys a new token through one of these pairs, the transaction first converts funds into the selected paired token before purchasing the new asset. That structure adds buying pressure and liquidity to the existing token’s pool.

Tokens that have graduated to Raydium but are not on Pump.fun’s whitelist are not currently supported. Whitelisted projects, including Fartcoin, remain eligible.

The update is designed to reduce the diversion of attention and liquidity caused by derivative launches around popular tokens. Pairing depth is capped at one level, and existing tokens cannot change their pair relationships after launch.

The platform also adjusted its multi-hop swap fee calculation so fees do not accumulate at every step of a routed transaction.
