> Three masked attackers restrained a foreign resident in Nong Prue near Pattaya and also stole cash, Rolex watches and mobile phones.

Three armed men forced a foreign resident to transfer Tether (USDT) worth about $820,000 during a predawn home invasion in Thailand, adding a large cryptocurrency loss to stolen cash and luxury goods.

The masked attackers entered a residence in Nong Prue near Pattaya at about 4:30 p.m. ET (8:30 p.m. UTC) Oct. 5, corresponding to 3:30 a.m. local time Oct. 6. They allegedly used a ladder to reach the property, threatened occupants with firearms and restrained them with handcuffs and rope.

The attackers also took about 150,000 Thai baht in cash, three Rolex watches and three mobile phones. The resident later escaped and contacted Nong Prue police.

Police found an abandoned black Toyota Fortuner believed to be connected to the robbery. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage, forensic evidence and immigration records while tracing the digital-asset transfers and reviewing whether the suspects crossed Thailand’s borders.

The suspects’ identities and nationalities have not been confirmed. The resident is described only as a foreign resident.

Reported estimates of the total loss range from nearly 30 million baht to about 37 million baht. The discrepancy apparently reflects different valuations of the watches and other property, but the figures were not fully reconciled.

The robbery follows the pattern commonly called a wrench attack, in which criminals use physical coercion or violence to obtain cryptocurrency or force a transfer. Unlike a conventional digital-wallet exploit, the method targets the asset holder directly and can involve digital assets, cash and physical valuables in one incident.
