> The incident may involve counterfeit or tampered devices sold through Southeast Asian distributor CryptoBillis, while Ledger investigates.

CZ warned Ledger users Friday that a recent theft incident may be confined to a single distributor and involve counterfeit or tampered hardware wallets.

The suspected attack appears to have affected a limited number of users who may have purchased devices through CryptoBillis, a Southeast Asian distributor, CZ said. He urged particular caution among people who recently bought Ledger products.

Ledger is investigating reports of user funds stolen in connection with the distributor. The circumstances raise the possibility that compromised devices entered the supply chain before reaching customers.

CZ said the BNB ecosystem and the broader crypto industry are expected to assist efforts to trace and recover the stolen funds. The affected devices may have been counterfeit, altered or otherwise compromised before sale.
