> Aave’s service provides protocol data and unsigned transactions, while MetaMask adds custody controls, spending limits and transaction-security features for AI agents.

Aave Labs’ MCP server and MetaMask’s Agent Wallet serve different roles in AI-driven decentralized finance, with one handling protocol information and transaction preparation while the other manages custody and execution controls.

Aave launched its Model Context Protocol server Sept. 8 at mcp.aave.com. The service supports Aave V3 and V4, allowing AI clients to retrieve markets, reserves, rates, wallet positions, health factors and rewards. It can also simulate actions and prepare transactions for supplying, borrowing, withdrawing, repaying, managing collateral, liquidations and swaps.

Transactions generated through the server remain unsigned. The service does not hold private keys or move funds, leaving signing and execution to a user-controlled wallet.

The service was released during September without authentication, an API key or signup. V4 deposits exceeded $1 billion during the month, with $310 million in active loans.

MetaMask’s self-custodial Agent Wallet launched Aug. 6 for AI-agent transactions. The wallet includes user-defined spending limits, protocol allowlists, risk settings, transaction simulation, threat scanning and MEV protection.

Users control the wallet’s keys and can export their Secret Recovery Phrase. The mm earn developer commands also include Aave-related yield-vault actions, including supplying to and withdrawing from an Aave vault on Base.

Together, the products could divide responsibilities for agent-driven DeFi. Aave provides protocol data, simulations and transaction construction, while MetaMask supplies key custody, policy enforcement and signing controls.

Neither product announcement identifies a direct technical connection between Aave MCP and MetaMask Agent Wallet. The available materials instead describe separate tools that could fit into different parts of an AI-based transaction workflow.
