> The Santa Monica startup targets architecture and design firms with software that converts project files into documents intended to support code compliance.

Blueprints AI is pitching software that turns sketches, photos, PDFs and other project inputs into construction documents intended to support code compliance, targeting architecture, engineering and design firms, developers and real estate owners.

The Santa Monica startup says its platform can produce architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy-compliance, fire-and-life-safety and interior sheets. Civil and landscape documents are available through enterprise plans.

The company says its system is designed to account for the International Building Code, International Fire Code, National Fire Protection Association standards, Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and local zoning rules. Users can revise projects with conversational prompts and markups or through exported computer-aided design and building-information-modeling files.

A licensed architect or engineer must review the documents and assume professional responsibility before permit submission. The requirement leaves design judgment and permitting responsibility with licensed professionals even when the software handles repetitive drafting work.

Blueprints AI markets generation as taking minutes, while its workflow description says delivery can take hours. Timing varies with project complexity, server load, software version, plan and project type. Its claim that projects can be completed up to 10 times faster than traditional drafting is presented as illustrative rather than guaranteed.

The company says onboarding takes about two weeks as the system is tailored to a firm’s previous projects, standards and local jurisdiction comments. Outputs can be customized with title blocks, sheet layouts, detail libraries, naming conventions and prior work.

The company’s stated workflow is aimed at shifting architects’ time away from drafting and toward design. Al Dram said, “I want to flip that to be 20-80,” describing the balance he wants between drafting and design work.

Blueprints AI’s second-generation model was scheduled for a public launch at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, Oct. 13-15, 2026.
