> Disney invested $1 billion in Epic in April 2024 and committed to acquire an additional 2% stake for $500 million in July 2024.

An unannounced extraction-style shooter tied to Disney and Epic Games’ entertainment partnership has been delayed, with no new release date announced.

The game is described as an extraction-style shooter involving Disney characters. Its exact title, characters and development status remain unconfirmed.

The project was delayed, and no new release date has been announced.

Disney invested $1 billion in Epic in April 2024 and committed to acquire an additional 2% stake for $500 million in July 2024. Those transactions brought Disney’s total interest in Epic to approximately 8%.

Epic Games and Disney announced their multiyear collaboration on Feb. 7, 2024. The companies outlined plans for an open, persistent social universe connected to Fortnite, allowing users to play, watch, shop, interact with Disney-related content and create their own experiences.

The partnership includes Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and other properties.

The planned universe will use Epic’s Unreal Engine. Epic’s announcement said, “This will all be powered by Unreal Engine.”

The broader partnership remains separate from the delayed shooter’s unannounced release timetable.
