> Coverage will focus on artificial intelligence governance, communications compliance and risk detection as enterprise AI adoption outpaces oversight.

theCUBE will cover Smarsh EDGE 2026 on Thursday, Oct. 15, with attention on how enterprises are managing artificial intelligence governance, communications compliance and misconduct detection as AI adoption accelerates.

The 2026 Enterprise AI Trends Study found that 55% of enterprises are actively deploying AI, but only 26% said their governance frameworks are fully aligned with the pace of implementation. Just 30% reported comprehensive capabilities for identifying and managing shadow AI.

Shadow AI refers to unauthorized AI tools used outside approved workflows. The gap between deployment and oversight places greater importance on systems that can monitor communications and support controlled investigations across workplace technology.

Smarsh provides communications capture, archiving and oversight tools for regulated organizations. The company’s research was conducted by FTI Consulting and published July 7.

On Sept. 16, Smarsh expanded its Communications Intelligence Platform with a Model Context Protocol server, AskSmarsh AI and additional agentic capabilities. The MCP server is designed to give existing AI tools governed access to communications data while retaining permissions, activity records and evidence-handling safeguards.

“AI changes the model,” Kamesh Tumsi, Smarsh’s chief product officer, said.

The Thursday, Oct. 15, coverage is expected to examine how organizations detect potential misconduct across messaging platforms, collaboration tools and AI applications. It will also address the compliance risks created as enterprises use AI more broadly.
