> The retailer paused Ledger sales in stores and online while contacting the hardware-wallet maker about suspected implants found in multiple devices.

MediaMarktSaturn has halted sales of all Ledger hardware wallets in its stores and online platforms after multiple suspected tampering cases raised supply-chain security concerns.

The European electronics retailer said it considers the matter serious and is in contact with Ledger. The suspension covers Ledger products across its retail and digital channels.

X user Johannes said he found an unauthorized cable and cellular module in each of two Ledger wallets purchased at separate MediaMarkt stores. Ledger has said implants of that type could transmit users’ recovery phrases over cellular networks and is investigating reports beyond the CryptoBilis case.

Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès also said a Ledger Flex he bought at an airport in Singapore contained a spy implant. Ledger directed users to the latest CryptoBilis investigation update but did not directly address the Singapore case or confirm whether tampered devices had been found in Europe.

The sales pause leaves Ledger and MediaMarktSaturn to determine the scope of the suspected hardware modifications and whether additional products require review.
