> The two automakers are offering supervised Level 2++ rides on open roads from Oct. 12-18, 2026, with Tesla supplying six Model 3 sedans and XPENG bringing two L03 vehicles.

Tesla and XPENG are the only automakers participating in the Paris Motor Show’s official autonomous-driving experience, giving the two non-European companies the show’s main public demonstration while European brands exhibit elsewhere.

The Autonomous Lab is running Oct. 12-18, 2026, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Visitors can take rides on open roads in vehicles classified as supervised Level 2++ systems.

Tesla is supplying six Model 3 sedans equipped with Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The driver-assistance system has accumulated more than 100 million kilometers across seven European countries where it is authorized. French approval is still required before the system can be installed on compatible vehicles in France.

The demonstrations require human oversight. They are not fully autonomous vehicles operating without a driver responsible for monitoring the road and vehicle.

Two L03 vehicles will demonstrate XPENG’s NGP VLA 2.0 system. The Paris event is the company’s first large-scale overseas test-ride program for NGP.

XPENG is scheduled to launch the G9L globally at the show on Oct. 12. The vehicle uses XPENG’s VLA 2.0 model and Turing AI chip. The company is using the event to present its broader approach to artificial intelligence across vehicles and robotics.

“We believe in 'car as robot', over the past few years, we have built an in-house AI foundation based on our work in AI cars and humanoid robots, and it powers both,” He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of XPENG, said.

He has identified chips, large models, autonomous driving and robotics as four technology directions shaped by artificial intelligence after 2023.

European exhibitors at the motor show include Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Opel, Škoda, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen. Tesla and XPENG are the only automakers listed in the public autonomous-driving experience, which is supported by Electra, organized by La Squadra and developed with Deloitte.

The Autonomous Lab continues through Oct. 18 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
