> EmployeeWorks assistants and routines are in controlled availability, while AI Passport and selected governance tools are expected in Q4 2026.

On Oct. 15, ServiceNow introduced AI Passport, a credential for checking an AI agent’s permissions while it is running, and expanded EmployeeWorks with tools for building employee assistants and automating routine tasks. The announcements add controls over what agents can do in enterprise systems and tools workers can use to create AI assistance for everyday jobs.

ServiceNow’s Super Intelligence Control Tower issues AI Passport. The credential is cryptographically signed and uses an organization’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB), governance policies and workflow approvals to define an agent’s authorized scope, including in workflows involving multiple agents. Its open specifications are designed to let other governance products, identity providers and enforcement systems issue and verify credentials.

AI Passport is designed to verify an agent’s permitted actions while it works. If an agent exceeds its approved scope, controls can redirect or restrict it, restore the appropriate context or shut it down.

ServiceNow named NVIDIA a design and launch partner for an enforcement implementation using components of the NVIDIA Open Agent Safety Platform.

The governance expansion also includes shadow AI detection, access mapping and ongoing visibility into agent activity. ServiceNow plans 400 or more out-of-the-box connectors to find AI use across platforms and vendors. Its cost management tools are designed to track spending by user, department and runtime.

EmployeeWorks adds Productivity Assistants that employees can tailor within administrator-defined guardrails, as well as Productivity Routines for recurring work in the background. The assistant lineup includes research, calendaring and human resources tools. These additions are in controlled availability.

Developers can use ToolSmith to build tools for EmployeeWorks assistants with natural-language instructions. ToolSmith is trained on more than 75,000 APIs, and a Conversations API can bring EmployeeWorks features into custom internal applications, kiosks and other AI applications.

ServiceNow expects AI Passport, shadow AI detection and AI Cost Management in the fourth quarter of 2026. Operational Resilience for financial services is available now.
