> Hoskinson’s post confirms he joined the call but does not identify its subject or explain what Back says he tried to warn Ethereum’s developers about.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson confirmed via a social post that he had joined a call involving Blockstream CEO Adam Back, whose latest critique has renewed discussion of blockchain ledger design.

Back said he had tried to warn Ethereum’s early developers, arguing that Bitcoin’s unspent transaction output (UTXO) model was designed to avoid some distributed-systems problems. Hoskinson wrote, “I can confirm. I was in that call.” His post confirms his attendance but does not identify the call’s subject, describe what the participants discussed or explain the warning Back says he made.

In his latest post, Back presented UTXO as a way to avoid certain distributed-systems problems. He did not specify when he tried to warn Ethereum’s developers, what he told them or whether the warning concerned ledger design. Hoskinson’s post gives no account of the call’s technical content.

UTXO records funds as discrete outputs that can be spent. A transaction consumes outputs from earlier transactions and creates new ones, which later transactions can use. Bitcoin (BTC) follows this model. Cardano’s extended UTXO model, known as eUTXO, retains that structure and adds data and validation rules for smart-contract logic.

Ethereum uses an account-based model to record balances and contract state. Its early account architecture was presented as offering lower storage overhead. Separately, Ethereum’s early design aimed to support a broader range of applications.

The approaches organize transaction state differently, and the exchange does not establish a universal advantage for either one. Neither post includes figures for Cardano users, transactions or applications, so the exchange does not resolve the separate “ghost chain” criticism. The discussion addresses architecture; it does not establish how widely Cardano is used.
