> A broader count covered 90 cases through mid-August. Thirteen active judicial proceedings involve 95 suspects under formal investigation, including 13 minors.

France recorded 47 crypto-related kidnappings and attempted kidnappings in the first four months of 2026, adding a narrower measure to a broader count of crypto-linked crimes.

The 47-case figure covers kidnappings and attempts. A distinct, broader count recorded 90 cases from Jan. 1 to mid-August, including kidnappings, abductions, extortion, threats and violent theft. The [broader 90-case tally](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/29008>) worked out to about one case every 2.5 days. France began recording those wider categories in 2026, leaving no comparable total for 2025.

Within the narrower series, the annual count rose from 18 cases in 2024 to 67 in 2025, followed by 47 in the first four months of 2026. The two tallies cover different offenses and periods, so they do not form a single comparable series.

There are 13 active judicial proceedings involving 95 suspects under formal investigation, including 13 minors. That figure counts suspects and proceedings, rather than attacks.

A Sept. 20 home invasion in Vendin-le-Vieil targeted a crypto-sector worker and his family. Four masked men forced the father to transfer cryptocurrency worth nearly €40,000.
