> About 2.8 million CYS remain at a blacklisted address. Cysic’s mainnet and users’ existing wallet assets were unaffected.

Cysic’s cross-chain bridge was shut down after an attack led to the unauthorized creation of 10 million CYS on BNB Chain, with about 2.8 million of the tokens now locked at an address.

The attack occurred Oct. 17. The attackers gained access to a database used by the cross-chain service and exploited a flaw in its processing logic to submit forged minting messages.

The bridge was paused immediately, and an onchain blacklist was applied to the address holding the 2.8 million CYS, preventing transfers from it.

The incident was limited to the bridge’s message processing and token-minting functions. Cysic’s mainnet was not affected, and users’ existing wallet assets were not stolen.

Cysic has hired a security firm to investigate the attack path and trace the movement of funds. The team’s response includes halting bridge service, restricting the address and tracking the minted tokens.
