> The Qubic network remains halted, immobilizing 87.1% of the drained QU while validators consider recovery options.

MEXC, a cryptocurrency exchange, has frozen the account that received 12.9% of the 2.94 trillion QU drained from 1,404 Qubic wallets, while the network remains halted pending a recovery decision.

Computors, the validators that process Qubic transactions, stopped the chain at tick 85,371,949. The halt immobilized the other 87.1% of the stolen QU on-chain. Those tokens cannot move while transaction processing is suspended, but they have not been returned to the affected wallets.

The wallet drain ran from 7:42 p.m. to 9:26 p.m. ET on Oct. 17 (23:42 UTC on Oct. 17 to 01:26 UTC on Oct. 18).

The drain stemmed from insufficient randomness in wallet-seed generation affecting certain Apple-device and browser combinations. It involved wallet creation rather than the network protocol. Version 4.26.4 replaced the vulnerable seed-generation method.

The Computor quorum is considering recovery options. Qubic has not announced a restart date or a method for restoring the drained balances.
