Google introduced Gemini for Government Services on Oct. 20 as a preview for U.S. agencies, bringing AI agents to document intake, public records work, procurement and grant spending reviews.

The service is designed for federal, state and local governments. During application reviews, an agent can compare information in W-2 forms, pay stubs and leases, then flag inconsistent figures or missing signatures for an employee to examine.

For Freedom of Information Act requests, agents can search for relevant records and suggest redactions for staff review. The tools can also compare vendor bids with procurement requirements and identify grant expenses that lack supporting documentation.

The agents connect to software agencies already use and follow existing access permissions. Their responses point employees to the records or rules behind a result. Agency personnel must approve consequential steps.

Missouri and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are early users. “Our citizens expect the government to move at the speed of modern life, not the speed of paperwork,” said Tim Marczewski, director of AI and innovation for the State of Missouri Office of Administration.

The preview builds on Gemini for Government, a separate, broader offering introduced in August 2025. Google has not announced a date for general availability of Gemini for Government Services.
