> Figma added 20 partners for the AI connection protocol at its first Config conference in India.

Figma co-founder and CEO Dylan Field said broader access to Figma data through Model Context Protocol (MCP) increases the risk of abuse as the company expands support for the AI connection standard.

Figma announced 20 new MCP partners at its first Config conference in India, including ClickUp, Linear, Mistral and Notion. MCP gives AI agents a common way to connect to outside tools and data.

At a media briefing, Field said MCP has substantial room for improvement. He said Figma wants people to use their data through the protocol, but exposing more of it creates more opportunities for abuse. Most users have no malicious intent, he said, yet the company still has to weigh that risk when deciding how much access to provide.

Field also said the protocol favors frontier AI labs. His comments put a limit on Figma’s push to make its tools more accessible to AI agents: adding connections does not mean opening every part of the platform through MCP.

The partner announcement came alongside [Figma’s introduction of Specs and the public beta of code layers](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/32280>). Field had previously said Figma planned to support Pi, an open-source tool, after an MCP co-creator criticized Figma for not supporting it.
