> A review of eight platforms shows that wallet access alone does not reveal who holds a stake or how a game result determines a payout.

Eight crypto sportsbooks use different combinations of smart contracts, escrow and operator accounts, showing why wallet access alone cannot tell users who controls a stake or settles a bet.

The distinction begins when a wager is placed. A player may connect a wallet, send funds to a contract or deposit crypto into a platform account. Each route gives the player a different relationship to the funds while the bet remains open.

Platform
Where funds go
How bets are handled

Dexsport
Users connect a wallet and place bets through smart contracts.
Dexsport uses its own competition-result data for settlement.

Overtime
Its design does not hold users’ funds.
Smart-contract markets use Chainlink and other data providers for market and settlement inputs.

bookmaker.XYZ
Stakes move from a wallet to an Azuro liquidity pool.
An NFT represents a winning bet and can be redeemed after an oracle supplies the result.

SX Bet
Stakes are locked in escrow after bets are placed.
The peer-to-peer exchange releases funds at settlement.

BC.Game
An in-platform wallet handles deposits and withdrawals.
The platform records bet history; winning free-bet profits go to the main wallet.

Shuffle
Deposits and winnings are held separately from the operator’s operating funds.
Sportsbook activity takes place through a required Shuffle Account.

Lucky Block
WalletConnect supports registration and Ether (ETH) deposits, but not withdrawals.
The sportsbook accepts bets and records them in account history.

Stake
Users fund a required Stake Account, including from a crypto wallet they control.
The operator accepts bets through the account and holds customer funds in separate accounts or crypto wallets.

Smart contracts do not determine a sporting result on their own. Overtime uses data providers to feed its markets and settlements across Optimism, Arbitrum and Base. At bookmaker.XYZ, an oracle supplies event information before a winning NFT-backed claim can be redeemed. Dexsport also puts bets into smart contracts, but uses its own competition-result data to settle them.

SX Bet shows why the timing of a wager matters. A bettor can control funds in a wallet before placing a bet; the stake then enters escrow and remains locked until settlement. Describing only the initial wallet connection would miss that change in control.

The account-based platforms present a different set of records. BC.Game provides an in-platform wallet and bet history. Lucky Block records accepted bets in a user’s account, even when that user registered and deposited ETH through WalletConnect. Stake accepts bets through its account system. Shuffle requires an account and keeps deposits and winnings separate from its operating funds. These features do not, by themselves, establish that each wager settles on a public blockchain.

Platform tokens answer another question. The Overtime token (OVER) has a governance role, the Dexsport token (DESU) carries rewards and voting functions, and staking the Shuffle token (SHFL) provides entries to a weekly lottery. SX Bet also offers staking rewards. None of those functions determines where a sportsbook holds a stake or how it resolves a game.

For U.S. readers, access is separate from the technical design. Published terms or notices for all eight platforms list the United States as restricted or unavailable, with wording and document dates that vary by platform.
