> SpaceX had 1.7 GW of nameplate compute capacity on Sept. 30. A separate plan calls for 20 GW of power and cooling additions during 2027.

SpaceX CEO and Chief Engineer Elon Musk expects SpaceX to have at least 13 GW of AI compute online by the close of 2027, supported by a major power and cooling expansion.

SpaceX had 1.7 GW of nameplate compute capacity as of Sept. 30, up from 1.4 GW on June 30. The company expects to finish 2026 with 2.5 GW to 3 GW of nameplate capacity.

At the Oct. 20 earnings webcast, Musk projected adding about 10 GW of compute during 2027. “I would be surprised if we brought on less than 13 gigawatts of compute by the end of next year,” he said.

Those figures describe different measures. The September capacity and year-end 2026 target are nameplate figures, while Musk’s 2027 forecast concerns compute brought online. His separate proposal to add 20 GW during 2027 applies to power and cooling infrastructure.

SpaceX’s Super Intelligence segment recorded $16.444 billion in capital expenditures and $7.560 billion in revenue in the quarter ended Sept. 30. Of that revenue, solutions and infrastructure contributed $7.022 billion, while advertising contributed $538 million. The capital expenditure figure covers the segment as a whole, rather than a specified share of the proposed 2027 expansion.

SpaceX aims to bring a training cluster with 440,000 Vera Rubin units online by the end of the second quarter of 2027.
