> New sign-ups have closed, and Arc Search will lose its AI tools and syncing on Nov. 23. Account data is scheduled for deletion within 30 days of deactivation.

The Browser Company will stop Arc from working on macOS and Windows on Dec. 22, 2026, ending desktop access and starting the final stage of a wind-down that also affects its mobile apps and user accounts.

New Arc account sign-ups closed Oct. 22. Existing desktop users can continue using the browser and receive basic updates through Dec. 22.

On Nov. 23, Arc Search will end mobile AI features, sign-in and tab syncing on both platforms. The iOS app will remain available as a lite browser. Arc Search for Android will be removed from Google Play and from devices where it is installed on Dec. 22.

The company plans to deactivate Arc accounts on Dec. 22 and delete associated personal data within the following 30 days. The Browser Company is directing users to Dia, its newer browser, which is free to download for macOS and Windows and has optional AI features.

Dia can import passwords, history, tabs, bookmarks and extensions, as well as Arc Spaces and Folders. Spaces become Profiles in Dia, while Folders become Tab Groups.

The shutdown marks a change from the company’s 2025 plan for Arc. It had stopped active development of the browser’s core experience while continuing Chromium upgrades, security fixes and bug fixes. The company is now directing its engineering and security work toward Dia, with Dec. 22 set as the final day for Arc on desktop.
