> The breach involved 25,964 buyer records. Keystone will cut its customer-data retention period from 180 days to 90 days.

Keystone will destroy 18,835 older devices and pause shipments of unfulfilled website orders as it responds to a breach involving customer records and device-verification keys.

The company said attackers accessed 25,964 buyer records containing personal information and obtained verification keys that could be used to make counterfeit devices pass its website check. Keystone plans to stop using the affected keys and destroy inventory devices that rely on them.

Shipments of pending website orders will remain paused until devices using new keys enter production. Keystone also plans to shorten the period it keeps customers’ personal information from 180 days to 90 days.

The company warned that devices using old verification keys and received after Oct. 20 may still be counterfeit even if they pass the website check. It advised those customers to contact its support team for further verification. The changes address both the exposure of buyers’ personal data and the risk that compromised verification keys could make fake devices appear genuine.
