> The advertised access time is under 500 milliseconds after a Gateway balance is established; Ethereum deposits average 13 to 19 minutes for required confirmations.

Circle’s Gateway service now supports Circle Wrapped Bitcoin (cirBTC) on Ethereum and Arc, giving users cross-chain access to the Bitcoin-backed token. The Oct. 23 expansion also added the euro-backed stablecoin EURC to the service.

Gateway maintains a separate balance for each asset. To move cirBTC between supported networks, the service burns the token on the source blockchain and mints the same asset on the destination. The process moves the token representation, not native Bitcoin (BTC) between networks. cirBTC represents Bitcoin on smart-contract networks and is backed one-to-one by BTC.

The advertised cross-chain access time is under 500 milliseconds once a Gateway balance is established. That estimate does not include the initial deposit. An Ethereum deposit takes an average of 13 to 19 minutes to receive the confirmations needed for an attestation, and actual timing can vary.

Gateway also offers a seven-day withdrawal route that lets users reclaim assets from its wallet contract without relying on Circle’s API. For cirBTC, that route is separate from redeeming the token for native BTC through Circle Mint, which is available to eligible business customers.

At launch, Gateway fees for cirBTC and EURC are waived on Arc and are one basis point (0.01%) on networks other than Arc. Gas and optional forwarding charges may add to the total transfer cost.

Gateway had processed more than $10 billion in total volume by Oct. 23, but the service-wide figure does not show cirBTC-specific activity. The [earlier Gateway volume milestone](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/32869>) also covered the service as a whole.
