> BULK founder kdot proposed letting traders use collateral from Arc, Tempo, Arbitrum and HyperEVM in one trading system. BULK’s current design uses Solana validators and leaves custody and settlement on Solana.

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said projects operating outside Solana’s layer-1 are separate networks as BULK founder kdot proposed letting traders use collateral from four blockchains in one trading system.

“If it’s not on the L1, it’s not on solana and it’s on its own L1,” Yakovenko wrote Oct. 29. He also said he did not want BULK’s founders to fail, adding, “I’ve got my own product to worry about.”

Kdot’s plan named Arc, Tempo, Arbitrum and HyperEVM as collateral sources. Yakovenko’s post described projects outside Solana’s L1 generally; it did not explicitly classify BULK’s architecture.

BULK’s current design is an L0 execution layer alongside Solana validators. It handles order matching and real-time risk checks, while Solana handles asset custody, deposits, withdrawals and settlement. The arrangement separates trade execution from the network handling custody and settlement.

BULK validators run a dedicated binary alongside standard Solana/Agave validator software on the same machine. They inherit identity and stake weight from Solana validators, tying BULK’s validator operations to Solana infrastructure while its execution layer handles trading functions.

BULK says its architecture targets 5 to 20 milliseconds for matching and propagation latency within regional validator sets. That is a stated design target, not a measured performance result.

The proposal concerns which networks could supply collateral to the trading system. The current architecture describes where trades are matched and risk-checked, and where assets are held and settled. Those are separate parts of the system, so using collateral from additional networks does not by itself establish that BULK’s execution takes place on Solana’s L1.

Yakovenko said he had his own product to focus on. The proposed collateral integrations had no stated deployment date.
