> Robinhood already uses the framework for fees collected through the Uniswap API. TJAR processed more than $15.3 million in conversions in September.

Uniswap Labs opened its Token Jar fee-conversion system to outside apps Thursday, Oct. 29, giving developers a way to collect fees in one chosen asset even when users pay in different tokens.

Apps may receive fees in the same tokens users trade, leaving operators with several assets to manage rather than one preferred payout asset. TJAR gives an app contracts to accumulate those holdings and designate one token for payouts. The operator also names the recipient, such as an app treasury, so each release routes the selected token to a chosen destination. That gives apps a way to direct proceeds while the jar holds assets collected in other tokens. The framework was first built for Uniswap Protocol fees; its opening Thursday extends it to outside apps.

An operator chooses the payout token, sets a threshold denominated in that token and selects a recipient. A jar can be configured in one transaction, updated later or permanently locked. The threshold stays fixed unless the operator changes it.

A searcher, a third party that executes onchain transactions, initiates each release through the Releaser contract. The searcher sends the jar’s preset payout token to the named recipient and receives the assets specified for release. No oracle adjusts the threshold as market prices move; the operator alone can change it. Incoming assets are not converted just by arriving in the jar: a searcher must start a release under the configured terms. Searchers decide whether to execute based on the jar’s assets and transaction costs.

Robinhood uses the framework for fees it collects through the Uniswap API across its supported chains, receiving USDC and Global Dollar (USDG) from its jars.

TJAR was live on seven chains: Ethereum, Optimism, BNB Chain, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum and Robinhood Chain. The framework processed more than $15.3 million in conversions in September.

Uniswap’s own protocol-fee deployment selects the Uniswap token (UNI) and sends it to a burn address. No protocol fee is currently set for TJAR. Outside app operators can choose their payout token and recipient.
