> Winklevoss framed token-holder voting as the on-chain form of stakeholder voting used in capital markets. The proposed fund would hold ZEC directly.

Gemini co-founder Cameron Winklevoss urged Zcash (ZEC) to end its community grants program, arguing that privacy should remain the project’s central purpose and that it does not need a governance overhaul.

Winklevoss described token-holder voting as an on-chain version of stakeholder voting used in capital markets. He said experimental governance falls outside Zcash’s mission and that Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) creates distractions and pulls the project in different directions.

The remarks come amid proposals to change Zcash funding. A protocol draft proposed ending the automatic allocation of 8% of block subsidies to ZCG and redirecting it to the Network Sustainability Mechanism. Winklevoss Asset has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed spot Zcash ETF. The fund would hold ZEC directly, carry a 0.25% fee and list on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK, with Gemini Trust Company as custodian.
