> Musk used “SI” on Tesla’s call, while Zuckerberg described Meta’s goal as “personal superintelligence.” Intel and IBM also used “Super Intelligence” in company materials.

Tesla and Meta executives used different forms of “superintelligence” on third-quarter calls, while peers showed mixed usage, underscoring that President Donald Trump’s terminology order does not cover private firms.

On Tesla’s Oct. 21 call, CEO Elon Musk discussed humanoid-robot demonstrations and said, “Some of them look very impressive, but they’re not really using any kind of advanced AI or SI.” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the company’s goal that day as “our goal of delivering personal superintelligence to everyone.” Musk paired “AI” with “SI,” while Zuckerberg used the longer phrase.

Zuckerberg had used “personal superintelligence” publicly more than a year earlier. His July 30, 2025, post was titled “Personal Superintelligence for Everyone,” and the phrase also appeared in Meta’s third-quarter 2025 call transcript. The October remarks do not establish that either executive chose the terminology in response to Trump’s order.

Trump signed the [federal terminology order](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/regulation/25521>) on Sept. 29. It directs executive departments and agencies, where legally permitted, to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in specified non-statutory materials. The order does not direct private companies to change their terminology. It gives the president’s science and technology adviser 60 days to submit proposed legislative language to establish a federal definition.

Other company materials retained “AI” language. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella named “Designing AI to empower people” as one of the company’s three focus areas Wednesday, Oct. 28. Amazon and Alphabet’s third-quarter materials also used “AI.”

Intel and IBM used “Super Intelligence” as well. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said in prepared remarks for the Thursday, Oct. 29, call that a supply shortage was driven by “the unprecedented demand for Super Intelligence.” IBM CEO Arvind Krishna used the term in the company’s Oct. 21 earnings release. The examples show varied corporate wording; the order’s next step is the adviser’s submission within 60 days.
