> Binance said $5 billion was already held in affected tokens, with the rest being acquired. About $3 billion in frozen or protected funds is separate from that allocation.

Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor backed Binance’s commitment to replace customer assets Friday, after the exchange said it had allocated more than $6.34 billion in company funds for the recovery.

Saylor posted at 9:57 a.m. ET (13:57 UTC) Oct. 30: “Binance has committed its own balance sheet to making customers whole. I expect it to deliver.” He did not announce a Strategy contribution or describe any exposure to Binance.

Binance said $5 billion was already held in the affected tokens and that it was acquiring the rest through market and over-the-counter channels. Limited liquidity and settlement times could delay the remaining purchases. Binance outlined the allocation and reserve figures in an [earlier update](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/44715>).

Binance said about $3 billion in funds that industry partners had frozen or protected was separate from its company-funded allocation. Those funds remain subject to recovery and verification, so the figure does not establish how much has been returned to customers.

Binance plans to publish an updated Proof of Reserves after remediation and a technical postmortem when its investigation is complete. Binance’s first notice said its initial inquiry raised the possibility that an engineer’s DevOps laptop had been compromised and used to access a service container. Binance CEO Richard Teng later said investigators found additional breach points.
