> Richard Teng said Binance set a 40-hour target for restoring withdrawals and plans to release a proof-of-reserves report by Monday.

Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said attackers used software designed to erase their tools and traces during a roughly $6.3 billion hack, making the exchange’s investigation harder.

Teng said multiple people took part in the attack. Binance’s review initially focused on a compromised laptop but later identified other entry points, he said. The attackers used EIP-7702 to gain on-chain execution authority over a Binance hot wallet, bypassing the exchange’s usual approval controls, Teng said.

Binance halted withdrawals while rebuilding and testing its systems, Teng said. The exchange set a 40-hour target for restoring the service and began a security audit covering endpoints, cloud infrastructure, key management and cryptographic signing.

Binance is working with law enforcement, blockchain intelligence firms, token issuers and other exchanges to trace and recover funds. It plans to release a proof-of-reserves report by Monday.
