Binance says it has covered about $6 billion in losses from a security breach that affected roughly $6.3 billion in assets, with a shortfall remaining in less-liquid tokens.

Binance also described replenishment as covering about 90% of the stolen assets. The update therefore gives both a dollar measure and a share of the recovery, while identifying less-liquid tokens as the part still outstanding.

The earlier $6.3 billion estimate refers to the total funds affected by the breach. Binance's newer $6 billion figure refers to losses covered, so the two numbers describe different stages of the incident. The update gives no separate dollar amount for the tokens still outstanding.

The distinction matters because the amount affected describes the breach's scale, while the covered amount describes the recovery reported so far. Binance said the outstanding portion is concentrated in less-liquid tokens. Its update did not separately state a dollar value or completion date for that remaining portion.
