> The HKMA plans to add regulated stablecoins to trial trades and connect its Faster Payment System to UnionPay International by year-end.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) advanced its EnsembleTX project into a new phase Monday, enabling real-value tokenized transactions around the clock as Hong Kong FinTech Week 2026 opened.

EnsembleTX is intended to support global fund deployment, management of tokenized-asset portfolios and treasury operations. In completed trial activity, Recognised Dealers conducted secondary-market trades involving tokenized Exchange Fund Bills. The HKMA plans to expand the trials to regulated stablecoins soon.

The HKMA also plans to connect Hong Kong’s Faster Payment System with UnionPay International by the end of 2026. The connection is expected to progressively enable QR-code payments at more than 100 million merchants. Their reach includes more than 100 million merchants and spans Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and more than 40 overseas markets.

The authority launched Project SAGE, short for Securing Agentic Finance with Governance and Enablement, and formed a cross-sectoral Agentic Finance Expert Group. A discussion paper on banks’ use of agentic artificial intelligence invites industry feedback on supervisory considerations for governing those applications.

The HKMA and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with industry participants, released a PQC Toolkit for post-quantum cryptography. It provides banks with a framework and tools for moving to the technology, and is designed to evolve as standards and implementation practices mature. Separately, the HKMA and Cyberport launched tConnect Launchpad to connect financial institutions with technology firms and digital asset innovators.

The HKMA framed the measures as progress under its DART framework, which covers data and payments, artificial intelligence, resilience and tokenization. The announcements follow an Oct. 26 briefing on Project Ensemble and quantum preparedness at a Hong Kong fintech coordination group meeting, covered in an [earlier report on proposed crypto licensing regimes](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/regulation/43044>).

HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue said Hong Kong was “well placed to capitalise on new growth opportunities in fintech.” Building on progress under the Fintech 2030 strategy, he said banks and fintech firms can better harness data, AI and tokenization.
