> Its task set draws on two time-use studies and a survey of 3,995 people about where they want personal-assistant help.

OpenAI introduced LifeVal on Nov. 2, a benchmark built to assess whether AI systems can help with ordinary responsibilities such as locating child care, setting budgets and completing government forms. The company said it has used the evaluation over the past year to track and guide improvements.

LifeVal’s task choices draw on the American Time Use Survey, the Multinational Time Use Study and a demographically representative survey of 3,995 respondents about where they wanted help from a personal assistant. Areas include caregiving, health, education, household administration, personal finance, shopping and government services. Sample tasks range from adapting recipes and ordering groceries to planning workouts.

The benchmark focuses on help with practical decisions and responsibilities; academic knowledge testing is not its main target. The announcement gave no performance scores or schedule for a related product launch. Coding scores alone do not show how AI systems perform on everyday tasks, as [Gemini 4 Argon’s mixed benchmark results](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/26220>) illustrate.
