> The FBI attributed the theft around Oct. 29 to a North Korea-backed hacking group and urged crypto firms to block transactions tied to laundering addresses.

Kim Yo Jong denied North Korea's role in the more than $6 billion Binance hack, directly challenging the FBI's accusation that a North Korea-backed group carried it out.

Kim, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and a Workers' Party Central Committee department director, made the denial in a statement on Nov. 2. She described the FBI's attribution as a serious political provocation and accused Washington of trying to portray North Korea as a cybercrime state.

The FBI said the theft happened around Oct. 29 and identified the activity as TraderTraitor. The bureau said the group was converting most of the stolen crypto into Ether (ETH), with decentralized finance (DeFi) and instant-exchange services as possible routes for further laundering. It urged crypto firms and infrastructure operators to block transactions tied to a list of addresses.

Kim also suggested that the destination of recovered funds could offer clues about who was behind the hack, but presented no evidence for that claim.
