> The two-rank design is intended to increase bandwidth over standard registered DIMMs; no measured performance comparison was provided.

On Nov. 2, Penguin Solutions introduced memory modules designed to add bandwidth to systems running AI inference, high-frequency trading and high-performance computing, expanding its hardware lineup for data center workloads.

The SMART Modular DDR5 Multi-Ranked Dual In-line Memory Modules (MRDIMMs) carry a DDR5-12800 rating. Their design multiplexes two physical memory ranks into one logical rank. The approach is intended to increase bandwidth over standard registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) while avoiding traditional speed limitations. The product announcement included no measured performance comparison.

The modules are aimed at generative AI, large language model inference and agentic AI, as well as high-frequency trading and high-performance computing. Optional Zefr high-reliability testing is available. Arthur Sainio, Penguin’s director of Integrated Memory Product Marketing, said, “As AI workloads become increasingly memory-intensive, customers need greater bandwidth without compromising reliability.”

The launch adds to Penguin’s memory products for AI systems. On March 16, the company introduced its MemoryAI KV Cache Server, a Compute Express Link (CXL)-based system offering up to 11 terabytes of memory for AI inference.

Penguin’s Integrated Memory segment recorded $340.8 million in net sales for the quarter ended Aug. 28, 2026, compared with $132.2 million for the quarter ended Aug. 29, 2025. For fiscal 2026, the segment generated $924 million in sales, up 99% from fiscal 2025. The annual increase was driven primarily by DRAM and flash momentum, with AI-related demand supporting higher prices and volumes.

The segment includes DRAM modules, flash storage and CXL-based products serving AI infrastructure, high-performance computing, networking and enterprise applications. Its sales therefore do not measure AI business alone. Penguin did not provide a price, shipping date, customer names or expected revenue for the MRDIMMs.
